Rabies shots for 38 People in NC
A Haywood County, NC family that thought they were being humane by adopting a raccoon has learned a difficult lesson about wild animals after the animal became sick and died of rabies. Now, 38 people who came into contact with the infected raccoon must undergo immunoglobulin and vaccination shots. “This is exactly why it is illegal to pick up these sorts of animals,” said Mike Carraway with the N.C. Wildlife Resources commission. The Asheville Citizen-Times.
