Bear goes for joyride, totals Toyota

20100723__ssjm0724grandtheftbear~1_400.JPGA full-grown black bear attracted to the smell of a peanut butter & jelly sandwich entered Ralph Story’s unlocked 2008 Toyota Corolla in Larkspur, Colo. early Friday and knocked the gearshift into neutral, sending the vehicle 125 feet down a hill and into some trees. After about 45 minutes of incessant horn-honking, a neighbor discovered the bear inside the car at about 2:30 am. Deputies freed the bruin by using a long rope to safely open the car door, allowing the bad driver to run off without receiving a traffic citation. The Denver Post.
