ImagesResponding to this week’s discovery of a bighead Asian carp in Lake Calumet, just six miles from Lake Michigan, U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) has urged President Obama to appoint a “carp czar” to oversee efforts to keep the invasive species out of the Great Lakes. “This isn’t just a matter of the Asian carp, but any other invasive species that would find its way up the Mississippi and Illinois rivers into our Great Lakes ecosystem,” Durbin said.
