Illinois caves closed due to bat ailment

The Illinois DNR has announced the closure of all state-owned and managed caverns to the public in an attempt to curtail the spread of white-nosed bat syndrome, which is believed responsible for the death of hundreds of thousands of the mammals across the northeastern US in the past three years.
