‘Herding’ Texas red-fish unfair—and illegal

Friend and associate Shannon Tompkins of the Houston Chronicle reports that the practice of “herding” or “rodeoing” redfish in Texas’ isolated bays and coastal backwaters with air-drives and other shallow-running watercraft is not only unethical, but also illegal. “Harrying fish with vessels is considered an artificial method of concentration that deprives other anglers of the opportunity for equitable enjoyment of the resource,” said TPWD law enforcement Major William Skeen.
