Wolves kill record number of livestock in Montana

Images-1 Wolves killed 202 sheep in Montana last year—almost double the number killed in 2008—and 97 cattle, up from 77 a year earlier. As a result, the Montana Livestock Loss Reduction and Mitigation Board compensated livestock operations in 21 of the state’s 56 counties, paying $142,000 for a record 369 animal losses to wolves.
